Diagnostic Radiology

Introduction

The Diagnostic Radiology Division is committed to improving health through excellence in image-oriented patient care and research.
Our Division performs more than 65,000 inpatient and outpatient procedures annually.
The Division also conducts clinical scientific research as well as basic scientific studies, and the results translate directly into better patient care.

Routine Activities

The Division has 4 helical CT scanners, including 2 multislice CT scanners, two 1.5-T MRI systems, 2 interventional radiology (IVR) CT systems, 2 gamma cameras that can be used for single photon emission CT (SPECT), 2 digital radiographic (DR) systems for fluoroscopy, 2 mammography systems, and 4 computed radiographic (CR) systems. Our IVR-CT systems use digital subtraction angiography along with helical CT. One of these systems is equipped with a 16-multislice CT scanner. A positron emission tomography (PET) scanner and baby cyclotron have been acquired by the Division, and tumor imaging using 18 F-FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose) has been performed. All these digital imaging systems enhance the efficacy of routine radiological examination.
This division has 6 consulting radiologists and 14 technicians. As a part of the routine work, every effort is made to produce an integrated report covering all examinations, such as plain radiographic examinations (chest, abdomen, head, neck, breast, bone, and other structures), contrast radiologica1 procedures, CT, MRI, RI, PET, angiography, and interventional radiology (IVR) mainly in the form of transarterial chemoembolization (TAE).
The number of cases examined in 2006 is shown in the Table below.
The Division routinely conducts several conferences, including teleradiological, pre- and postoperative conferences.
