Diagnostic Radiology

Introduction

The Diagnostic Radiology Division is committed to improving health through excellence in image-oriented patient care and research.
Our Division performs more than 66,000 inpatient and outpatient procedures annually. It also conducts clinical scientific research as well as basic scientific studies, with the results translated directly into better patient care.

Routine Activities

Our Division has three helical computed tomography (CT) scanners, including two multi-slice CT scanners, two magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems (i.e., 1.5T and 3T), two interventional radiology (IVR) CT systems, two gamma cameras with the capacity for single photon emission CT, two digital radiographic systems for fluoroscopy, and two mammography and four computed radiographic systems. Our IVR-CT systems use digital subtraction angiography with helical CT. One is equipped with a 16 multi-slice CT system. A positron emission tomography (PET) scanner and baby cyclotron have been adopted, and tumor imaging using 18F-FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose) has been performed. These all-digital image systems enhance the efficacy of routine examination.
This Division has six consulting radiologists and thirty technologists. As part of routine work, every effort is made to produce an integrated report covering all examinations, such as plain radiographic examinations (chest, abdomen, head, neck, breast, bone and other structures), contrast radiologica1 procedures, CT, MRI, RI, PET, angiography and IVR, mainly transarterial chemo-embolization.
The number of cases examined in 2008 is shown in the Table below.
Several conferences are regularly held at our Division, including teleradiologic, pre- and postoperative conferences.
