Morphine Dosage at Admission:

66% of the patients were using opioids at admission to the palliative care unit. The average oral morphine equivalent daily dosage at admission was 68.2mg.

Pain at Admission:

Of the 29 patients assessed at admission, 55% had no pain or mild pain, 38% had moderate to severe pain, and 7% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 29 patients assessed at admission, 55% had no pain or mild pain, 38% had moderate to severe pain, and 7% appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

 

Of the 21 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no pain or mild pain were 47%. Those with moderate to severe pain decreased to 14%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 38%.

Of the 29 patients assessed at admission, 87% had no breathlessness or mild breathlessness. 3% experienced moderate to severe breathlessness. 10% appeared vague and not had unclear consciousness.

Of the 21 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild breathlessness decreased to 57%. Those with moderate breathlessness were 5%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 38%.

Fatigue at Admission:

Of the 29 patients evaluated at admission, 48% had no or mild fatigue, while 41% experienced moderate to severe fatigue. 10% felt appeared vague or had unclear consciousness.

Of the 29 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, the patients with no or mild fatigue decreased to 14%. Those with moderate to severe fatigue were 34%. Those of patients appeared vague or had unclear consciousness increased to 52%.

Of the 29 patients evaluated in the 3 days before passing away, 96% had no ascites or showed no symptoms related to it, and 3% showed symptoms due to ascites.
