Clinics and Wards

Diagnostic precision and state-of-the-art treatments are provided, with cutting edge information, technology and equipment.

Approximately 1000 patients, including new and follow-up patients, visit the hospital daily. Eighty to 120 patients receive chemotherapy in the day care center which has 20 beds and 10 reclining chairs. Organ oriented specialist groups run the clinics. Appointments for consultation and examinations are made by the computer system in the clinics without visiting to each division.

There are 600 inpatients beds in the wards. Each ward is constructed with special attention to patients' amenities. In the clinical trial ward, the transplantation ward, the intensive care unit (ICU) and the high care unit (HCU), cutting edge treatment and care for chemotherapy and examinations are provided. There is also a ward exclusively used for short stays of up to 10 days.

Examination/Diagnostic Department

Specialists use newest equipments to provide early detection diagnosis and accurate staging of cancer. The departments are fully equiped with video-endoscopes. magnifying endoscopes, ultrasonographic endoscopes, MRI and helical CTs.


Treatment (Surgery, Chemotherapy, Endoscopic treatment and Radiotherapy)

The best available treatment for each patient is provided according to the stage and characteristics of their tumor using single or multi modalities.

More than 4000 operations are carried out yearly. Full range of intervention from technically demanding extended surgery to minimally invasive surgery are available, but always with special emphasis on QOL after surgery. Many patients undergo endoscopic treatment for early lesions of the GI tract. In many divisions, including some divisions of the surgical department, clinical trials are actively carried out to establish the state-of-the-art treatments and to re-evaluate standard treatments to introduce innovative treatment.


Co-medical support by Nursing Department, Volunteer activities and Pharmaceutical Department

Patient oriented support is provided.

Nurses with specific experties in care of cancer patient together with more than 60 volunteers help patients undergo treatment with minimal anxiety, reducing physical and psychological pain. They respect the patients and support self decision making. Pharmaceutical Department provides management of drugs including chemotherapeutic drugs for both in and out patient clinic and information of new drugs.
