Research Activities
The research goal of the project is to develop clinical applications for better
clinical outcome of cancer patients. For this aim, we are identifing biomarkers
and therapeutic targets, revealing the molecular background of cancer diversity.
Cancer proteomics is carried out by collaborating
with medical doctors, pathologists and industrial people. The target malignant
tumors include 1) lung cancer, 2) liver cancer, 3) pancreatic cancer, 4) esophageal
cancer, 5) colorectal cancer, 6) malignant soft-tissue sarcoma, 7) malignant
mesothelioma, and 8) Cholangiocarcinoma. The project investigates the proteins
associated with carcinogenesis and cancer development, and the proteins corresponding
to histological malignancies and differentiation. The project also discovers
the proteins predictive for response to chemotherapy, or metastasis/recurrence/survival
after surgical operations. The novel diagnostic tools are developed using
the identified proteins.
