Division of Cancer Screening Assessment and Management

Message

Early detection and treatment of cancer does not always bring benefit, but there is a possibility of suffering harm. Even if there are benefits to undergoing screening, we should not provide screening where the harm equal or exceed the benefits. Our department has been focusing on the evaluation of new screening methods, such as the evaluation of the effectiveness of cancer screening, research on both screening benefit and harm, and the development of guidelines, as well as the quality assurance (monitoring and evaluation) of the introduced screening methods. In the future, we will also work on the dissemination and implementation of new medical checkups that are expected to be introduced, and disseminate these results in easy-to-understand messages.
