Joint Statement Issued with National Cancer Hospital, Viet Nam

1 December 2021

in Japanese

Since concluding a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in April 2018, the National Cancer Center’s collaboration with the National Cancer Hospital, Viet Nam (K Hospital) has gone from strength to strength.

Dr Nguyen Tien Quang, President of the Management Board of the National Cancer Hospital joined His Excellency Mr Pham Min Chinh, Prime Minister of Viet Nam on an official visit to Japan. During his visit, the two Presidents each signed a Joint Statement confirming to reinforce this relationship.

The document lists the following areas for reinforcement of collaboration: drug development and clinical research with a focus on the ATLAS project; capacity building for cancer genomic medicine in Viet Nam; cancer prevention research, through projects such as Asian Code against Cancer, aligned with ANCCA (Asian National Cancer Centres Alliance) initiatives; and epidemiological research, as part of the WHO/IARC (WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer) GICR (Global Initiative for Cancer Registry Development), especially with childhood cancers.

The National Cancer Center will buttress this friendly relationship, towards a dynamic and even more beneficial partnership.
