The Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida and the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., President of the United States of America issued a joint statement upon the President’s visit to Japan on May 23, 2022. Further progress in Japan-US joint research in cancer, and the renewal of the memoranda of understanding between the U.S. National Cancer Institute and the National Cancer Center enabling the cooperation was welcomed. The role of the National Cancer Center in promoting collaboration under the Cancer Moonshot program since 2017 was highlighted.

The National Cancer Center has concluded a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in cancer research in 2014 with the National Cancer Institute, followed by another memorandum of collaboration in proteogenomics, also renewed this month.
