A Meaningful Step Forward in NCC Japan–CSI Singapore Collaboration

We were delighted to host the NCC Japan–CSI Singapore Joint Scientific Symposium 2026 on March 5–6, 2026, co-organized by the National Cancer Center Research Institute, Japan and CSI Singapore.

The symposium followed the signing of the MOU between the two institutions, with the shared goal of strengthening research exchange, deepening mutual understanding, and creating new opportunities for future collaborative research and researcher exchange.

Day 1 was held in a hybrid format, while Day 2 took place fully in person. We were honored to host Director Dr. Ashok Venkitaraman and several colleagues from CSI Singapore, together with many researchers from NCC Japan.

The program included presentations introducing the research frameworks and priority areas of both institutions, as well as sessions featuring early-career researchers. At the end of Day 1, President Dr. Hiroyuki Mano of NCC and Dr. Venkitaraman joined a panel discussion on the future of collaboration between the institutions. On Day 2, discussions focused on topics such as genomic medicine in Japan, including C-CAT, with an emphasis on identifying future directions for collaboration. A networking dinner on the evening of Day 1 also provided a valuable opportunity for researchers from both centers to connect and strengthen relationships.

Throughout the two days, the symposium was marked by lively and constructive discussion. It deepened our understanding of each institution’s research strengths and platforms while providing a meaningful foundation for future joint projects and sustained collaboration.

We look forward to continuing discussions and advancing the ideas shared during the symposium toward concrete collaborations and researcher exchange opportunities.
