Introduction

Linear accelerator-based boron neutron therapy system was developed using a solid lithium target, which was realized for the first time in the world. Now physical and biological experiments are performed to measure the neutron spectrum from an accelerator. After the consultation with PMDA, the first-in-human trial will be launched next year.

The Team and What We Do

Physical and biological experiments of neutron fields are performed.

Research activities

The physical and biological experiments are intensively performed. Additionally, to select the optimal patients for BNCT, basic and clinical research of F-BPA PET/CT is being done.

Clinical trials

First-in-human trials will be launched after consultation with PMDA in 2019.

Future prospects

With the hospital based-BNCT system, recruitment of patients into BNCT clinical trials will be facilitated and the role of BNCT in oncology will be established very soon.
