Introduction

The IT Integrating and Support Center (ITISC) was established in October 2017 to respond to the spread of AI and medical ICT, to properly maintain and operate the information system and network of the NCC as a whole, and to ensure information security measures.

The Team and What We Do

The ITISC consists of two sections. The information system planning section and information system management section are assigned under the director of the center. The ITISC is responsible for the following roles: (1) Maintenance and operation management of IT infrastructure such as the entire National Cancer Center network and information system, (2) Formulation of information security policy in accordance with related laws, etc. (3) Management of hospital information systems at central hospital and east hospital, and (4) IT literacy education for staff, etc.

Activities

In FY2018, the ITISC developed the NCC information system grand design, established an anti-virus software infrastructure, increased speed by switching SINET of the NCC Internet connection line, responded to information security audit, and supported the introduction of a cancer genome medical system to the NCC hospitals. Through these activities, we contributed to the formulation of information system management plans, improvement of security measures, and advancement of hospital information systems.

Education

At the orientation for new entrepreneurs at Tsukiji and Kashiwa campus, the ITISC gives lectures on how to use information systems, important points on handling personal information, etc., to improve information literacy.

Future prospects

As the department responsible for the basic infrastructure of the NCC, it is our responsibility to provide secure, convenient and advanced information systems and network environments that contribute to cancer medical care and research at the NCC. In addition, we are responsible for playing a role in the development and utilization of pioneering systems for domestic and overseas medical and research institutions. We will continue to contribute through the development of the NCC information system infrastructure scheduled for fiscal 2019 and beyond.
