Introduction

The Office of Cancer Registry is a department that executes a hospital-based cancer registry.

The Team and What We Do

There were 6,730 diagnostic cases registered in 2019 in the hospital cancer registry (the first visit of cancer patients diagnosed from January to December in our hospital): initial treatment conducted in our hospital, 5,054 cases; diagnosis only in our hospital, 146 cases; after the start of treatment at another hospital, 850 cases; and diagnosis and treatment at another hospital (second opinions not included), 680 cases. The number of new registrations shows that the number of female patients has been consistently less over time than male patients due to irregular situations by department (see Table 1).

We cooperate with the trial operation of software related to health information management. As for the Hos-CanR NEXT software, new functions are evaluated in trial operation at our hospital and the National Cancer Center Hospital etc. before they are provided to other facilities.

Also, in cooperation with biobank-related research, we have developed questionnaire input software common to Advanced and Specialized Medical Care and we are using it to register questionnaire information.

Education

The Office of Cancer Registry trains cancer registrants and currently has three individuals with beginner authorization and four with intermediate authorization.

Future Prospects

The results of a hospital-based cancer registry have been transmitted to each department by a server through a nosocomial network within the hospital information system. We will continue to provide such useful information.
