Introduction

We oversee the stable operation of hospital information systems. We maintain the systems in cooperation with other departments in the hospital to ensure that daily operations can be performed appropriately. In addition, we improve operations and develop systems from the viewpoint of information. We are researching the use of IT to improve operational efficiency and patient services.

Research activities

We have presented at conferences such as the Medical Informatics Society, Radiological Society of North America, and others. This year, we also published an article in a monthly medical journal, New Medicine in Japan. Continuing from last year, we conducted joint research with Pfizer R&D and NTT Data on data linkage with electronic medical records in clinical trials and participated in joint research with Flatiron on the utilization of electronic medical record data.

Education

The Division provided support mainly for medical information technicians to obtain certification. One person obtained this certification in FY2021. In addition, education on project management was provided through on-the-job training.

In the hospital, e-learning on information security was conducted. In addition, a monthly newsletter was published to raise awareness of IT literacy.

Future Prospects

In FY2021, activities were conducted to organize and resolve issues for the stable operation of the hospital information systems after their renewal. In the future, we will further establish stronger relationships with departments and aim for more appropriate operation of the hospital information systems. In addition, we will actively conduct activities for the adopted demonstration project, as it will lead to improved patient services, and contribute to further value enhancement of East Hospital. For research, we will continue to perform joint research with companies and aim to obtain public research grants and other funding. We will hold seminars on a regular schedule to improve information literacy on the Kashiwa Campus. As part of information security management, the information systems used on the Kashiwa Campus will be identified and their operational status will be monitored.
