Molecular pathogenesis of gastrointestinal cancer
We are analyzing the molecular abnormalities involved in the developmental process of gastrointestinal cancers. In particular, we are focusing on the serrated pathway in colorectal cancer, which is a different carcinogenic pathway from the adenoma-carcinoma sequence. Recently, we have reported on serrated lesions in familial adenomatous colorectal adenomatous carcinomatosis (Fig.2), including analysis of the carcinogenic process via superficially serrated adenoma, a new serrated lesion we have proposed.
