NCCJ President Mano attends French National Day Reception and reaffirms Japan-France cooperation on G7 Cancer

President Mano had the honor of attending the French National Day Reception held at the Embassy of France in Japan on July 14. The reception brought together more than 1,000 guests from a wide range of fields, creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere that reflected the strong ties between Japan and France.

During the reception, President Mano greeted H.E. Béatrice le Fraper du Hellen, Ambassador of France to Japan, and explained that NCCJ had taken over the G7 Cancer Presidency from the French National Cancer Institute (Institut national du cancer, INCa).

Their conversation also touched on the Japan-France Joint Leaders’ Statement issued during President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Japan in April 2026, which welcomed the transition of the Presidency, as well as the “Leaders’ call on the fight against cancer” adopted at the G7 Evian Summit. The document highlighted three main priorities: promoting data sharing on pediatric, adolescent and young adult cancers, addressing cancers with poor prognoses, and advancing universal access to quality care, all of which are closely linked to G7 Cancer’s work.

President Mano and Ambassador le Fraper du Hellen shared a common wish to continue advancing G7 Cancer’s work and to further deepen cooperation between Japan and France in the field of cancer.
