About C-CAT Data Utilization System for members of Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine

C-CAT aggregates and facilitates usage of clinical information and genomic information of cancer gene panel (cancer genome profiling) tests, each with patient consent. For Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine, C-CAT offers three data utilization systems: the first is “Medical-Use Portal site“ for primary use of C-CAT data for medical treatment, the second is ”Research-Use Portal site“ for secondary use of C-CAT data for the purpose of academic research and drug development, the third is ”Number-of-Records Search site“ for checking the number of the registered data (records) of your interest.
This section describes the differences between the three systems in terms of target researcher, applications, etc.

Medical-Use Portal site

A portal site for medical staff of Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine to refer data accumulated in C-CAT for the purpose of medical treatment. For example, information on treatment methods for cases with specific mutations is available at the Hospitals without prior application procedures (You must obtain an account through your hospital). Combination search is available for clinical and gene mutation information of all C-CAT registered patients nationwide.
The users cannot publish the results of research using Medical-Use Portalsite.

Research-Use Portal site

A portal site for Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine, Research Institutes and Industries to utilize data accumulated in C-CAT for the purpose of academic research and drug development. Combination search is available for clinical and gene mutation information of all C-CAT registered patients nationwide, who gave consent for the research use of their data by third-party investigators. Intellectual property and intellectual property rights arising from the use of C-CAT Data belong to a user who has created such intellectual property and is granted intellectual property rights. To use the C-CAT Research-Use Portal site, the review and approval from REC and head of your institution may be required, unless the research plan is outside the scope of the ethical guidelines (e.g. a market research purpose). The application to C-CAT is then required for the data utilization. Members of the Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine can use the site for free.

Number-of-Records Search site

A portal to check the registration status of C-CAT data for free of charge, for Research Institutes and Industries, not limited to Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine. But a simple registration is required by entering your name, e-mail address (free personal address, such as Gmail or iCloud mail, is not acceptable), country/region and the types of your affiliation. The Number-of-Records Search function provides combination search by selecting clinical information and gene mutation results, just as the actual C-CAT Research-Use Portal site does, but it only displays the number of the search results. Number-of-Records Search is available for Simple searches, such as the number of cases with a particular mutation, or checking the number of the registered data (records) of your interest prior to the application for the C-CAT Research-Use Portal site.
Presentations citing the number of cases data using Number-of-Records Search are available.
