For members of Research Institutes (excluding Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine)

This page is an English translation of information for organizations based in Japan. The data utilization service will be available for organizations outside Japan at a later date.

About C-CAT Data Utilization System for members of Research Institutes

C-CAT aggregates and facilitates usage of clinical information and genomic information of cancer gene panel (cancer genome profiling) tests, each with patient consent. For Industries, C-CAT offers two data utilization systems: the first is ”Research-Use Portal site“ for secondary use of C-CAT data for the purpose of academic research and drug development, the second is ”Number-of-Records Search site“ for checking the number of the registered data (records) of your interest.
This section describes the differences between the two systems in terms of target researcher, applications, etc.

Research-Use Portal site

A portal site for Industries, Research Institutes and Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine to utilize data accumulated in C-CAT for the purpose of academic research and drug development. Combination search is available for clinical and gene mutation information of all C-CAT registered patients nationwide, who gave consent for the research use of their data by third-party investigators. Intellectual property and intellectual property rights arising from the use of C-CAT Data belong to a user who has created such intellectual property and is granted intellectual property rights. To use the C-CAT Research-Use Portal site, the review and approval from REC and head of your institution may be required. The application to C-CAT is then required for the data utilization.
Access to the C-CAT Research-Use Portal site is free for the researches conducted by the investigators in Research Institutes and supported by public research grants, which are operated based on the national policies/criteria, such as grants by AMED, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. For types of researches other than those described above, the researchers in Research Institutes are requested to pay the fee..

Number-of-Records Search site

A portal to check the registration status of C-CAT data for free of charge, for Research Institutes and Industries, not limited to Hospitals for Cancer Genomic Medicine. But a simple registration is required by entering your name, e-mail address (free personal address, such as Gmail or iCloud mail, is not acceptable), country/region and the types of your affiliation. The Number-of-Records Search function provides combination search by selecting clinical information and gene mutation results, just as the actual C-CAT Research-Use Portal site does, but it only displays the number of the search results. Number-of-Records Search is available for Simple searches, such as the number of cases with a particular mutation, or checking the number of the registered data (records) of your interest prior to the application for the C-CAT Research-Use Portal site.
Presentations citing the number of cases data using Number-of-Records Search are available.
