Dr. Okusaka has been engaged in the development of systemic therapies for refractory cancers, with a particular focus on pancreatic, biliary tract, and liver cancers, and has contributed to building clinical evidence and improving treatment outcomes by planning and conducting clinical trials in Japan and internationally. In particular, he has been promoting the establishment of novel therapeutic strategies, including chemotherapy, molecular targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, as well as the optimization of treatment approaches based on real-world clinical data. More recently, he has also been dedicated to implementing precision medicine using biomarkers and genomic information. He continues to work on optimizing treatment regimens through clinical trials involving Japanese patients and on conducting validation studies based on real-world clinical data. Furthermore, through research related to the development and revision of clinical practice guidelines, he has placed strong emphasis on translating the latest scientific evidence into clinical practice.
